SMS messaging & consent

For carrier and compliance review (public)

This page describes how consumers (players) opt in to receive SMS messages from Ohh Snaps for optional game features, such as scavenger hunts run by event hosts using our platform. This is separate from marketing email; SMS is used to deliver hunt-related messages (for example, consent confirmation and clue links) only after the consumer takes clear affirmative steps.

1. Where consent is collected

Consent is collected on our player web app (hosted application URL provided when a host starts a game). The consumer:

  • Opens the hunt from a QR code or link provided by the event organizer.
  • Enters a display name and a mobile phone number they control.
  • Submits the form to request joining the hunt. The interface states that we will send a text to confirm participation and to send clue-related messages.
  • Receives a single SMS asking them to reply YES to confirm that they want to join and to receive hunt messages. Joining is only completed after this confirmation when applicable.

This two-step process (web request + SMS reply) is a clear double opt-in for recurring messages tied to that session.

2. What messages are sent

  • Consent / join: A message prompting the consumer to reply YES to join the hunt and receive texts for that activity.
  • Gameplay: Messages may include links to clue content (for example, the next step in the hunt). Frequency depends on how the game is run (typically a small number of messages per session).

We do not sell phone numbers to third parties for unrelated marketing through this flow.

3. Opt-out (STOP)

Consumers can opt out of further SMS for the hunt by replying STOP (or supported carrier keywords). After that, we do not send further hunt SMS to that number for that flow. Standard message and data rates may apply.

4. Privacy

How we handle personal data more broadly is described in our Privacy Policy.
